freedom from the fire of personality...

I wonder if you can see what I mean when I say there is a demand on every aspect of creation for action. Moreover, that this phenomenon of life is absolutely interrelated, and every aspect can only live by facing this demand completely.

I wonder if you see the truth of that. The truth, that like the cells in the body, every aspect of creation is immaculately connected in this vast creation, and that true participation... true action requires TOTAL intelligence. It really is important for us to take a moment and go into this. And so I wonder if you see that this action of which I speak can only arise in a way that is absolutely in touch with the burning fact of every other aspect of creation. And everything that exists is born into this demand. And everything that is born is equipped to face this demand. However, while humankind was born into this demand, and while we are equipped to face it, we have not been meeting it. Human kind is currently in the thrall of an immense sickness.... it's a sickness far worse than any of the outbreaks that we have come to know as sicknesses... for it is a sickness in which we are compelled to miss completely the entire point of life... it's a sickness which at the deepest levels has taken us out of meeting the true demand of life, and has us spiraling in a disorder which is a complete abomination.

I'm afraid already that these words might seem too severe. After all, one might say, "look at what we've done as humans! Look at the marvellous cultures!" Please, if you look, you will see that our cultures are not an expression of totally interconnected, totally sensitive order. There is perpetual war, perpetual corruption, perpetual delusion, manipulation. Each one feels broken up inside... lonely, and so must participate in one superficial stunt after another, always living in denial and self protection...

So in seeing all this, is it possible to understand, to see the truth of the matter, and in so doing, be free of the root of this sickness? What is the actual phenomenon which could get in the way of the human mind meeting the demand for absolutely inter-related creativity and action?

The root of this sickness, if you look, is the apparently unavoidable tendency of the human mind to be overwhelmed and caught by a fire of personality... the fire that spreads which separates this vast, beautiful, singular creation of life into the billions human minds who are living in the deluded impression that there are two things, there is "me", and there is life... "me" and my life... and so are caught up in the entertainments, the fantasies, the pleasures, the strategies to give this falseness a sense of vitality. It's a sickness by which, in the name of "me", impressions, ideas and technical knowledge, all upstage the actual fact of life in relationship, and the brain - the mind - is trapped in a delusion where instead of life taking place in the actual situation, there is an attempt for life to take place in the impressions, ideas, and knowledge stored up as memory in the brain. This energetic wave of personalization is born of the human brain, and must instantaneously work to maintain the delusion that is taken for fact. This "work" is the struggle for power and control... as it does so, it's like a robot car following an out of date map. There is complete disorder. Life becomes merely a matter of vain attempts to celebrate a sense of control and power, to assert the delusion of personality, be it of the one or of the many. We are caught in a struggle to maintain pretense, while all the while we are inwardly terrified, violent, greedy... our daily life is based in intimidation, denial and war.

So... being very careful, we must ask if it is possible for the heart and mind live at the centre of consciousness itself, necessarily free of the fire of personality... in the astonishing flowering of this most wonderous phenomenon of life, of consciousness... in the totally interconnected dreamscape that is the very fact of isness... please... this is what we have to look into.

You know...A truthful, creative life is your BIRTHRIGHT! Not that you know or could imitate what that life might be... and that's just it. It's what life demands... don't you see? It's not something that you have to earn or assert...it's the fact of your life! This is it !


It is the demand upon the flower as it grows. It must do everything it does at the right time and in the right way or that's it. And, if it dies, there is no problem. That sort of passing is inherent in its birth... inherent in the demand.

a new world, a truthful life...

it doesn't matter what the situation looks like, each one of us can and must be clear about one thing: REaction to the situation is conflict, and only if reaction is understood at its very root is there the possibility of action in regard to the situation.

Most of us are living our lives in a perpetual state of reaction... i don't know if you see this. Life demands the action of a fresh mind, of a mind free to give rise to new and accurate relations, but our minds are anchored in a sense of the personal and so there is reaction, born to protect that attachment. And as the personal ALWAYS has its roots in the past, in memory, it cannot ever give rise to a truthful, creative solution. That movement of the personal with its beliefs, traditions, habits and preferences is memory attempting to be reality... the past attempting to be the present. So, there is no use in vowing, "I will not react," for the very root of reaction, is the phenomenon of personality and time... the "I WILL do something". You can see that such movement, the movement of this "me" thing is already REactive. The truth of this is shining in the very fact of what life is showing. It doesn't require a belief - any believer goes against what we are seeing here... look and see... this isn't a theory... it is inherent in what life is showing... it is see-able - factual. In seeing the truth of this, not living in that world where "you agree with me" or "disagree with me", but actually seeing the truth of what is happening, what's left?

Being clear about this one thing would mean that the mind is in its situation... that the mind IS the situation, and there is the clear seeing that any movement as "me", as "I'm gonna or not gonna," constitutes reaction. What's there then? Look and see... There is a certain sort of crisis isn't there? Isn't there something going on IN the crisis? Wouldn't this be the crisis of a new world being born? of a truthful life being lived?

To speak of horror...

To speak about horror or disorder is tricky, because the attached mind thinks it knows what horror, what disorder is... it sees itself as the heart of "respectability, and order" and anything that thwarts that centre is seen as disorder. So "murder" is called disorder, "poverty" is called disorder, "crime" is called disorder, and rightly so, but the societal person doesn't realize that their psychological dependency which creates these modes of "respectable" or "not respectable" is the biggest crime of all. The centre of the "me" itself, which is the heart of psychological dependency, is the essence of disorder, not the various symptoms and expressions. The so called "model citizen" is every bit as tied to murder as the murderer himself, because the whole movement of attachment, which then must live in ideas, is an abomination, is violent at its very inception. It requires killing and delusion to perpetuate.

completely creative action...

Consciousness itself... the very fact of "is-ness", is a single movement. For thousands of years, the human brain has been denying this fact. A most unfortunate, and obviously incorrect phenomenon has been occurring in which memory in the brain has stepped forward or refused to take its place as PAST. Memory has claimed a voice. Suddenly, in the single movement of consciousness, there is the mistaken impression that there are TWO things, "ME" and "CONSCIOUSNESS"... you see? Because this secondary entity, the establishment of the PAST as "me", is false, it is necessarily and ceaselessly thwarted by the fact of consciousness itself. For some reason, mankind has not been able to understand this, the stormy feeling of this contradiction has come to be called pain and fear, and the secondary entity has remained necessarily at battle, always working to "gain control", to "overcome" pain and fear, and to protect itself in what you can see is an impossible, downward spiral of horrifying futility. Something which isn't and can never be real has claimed the human organism. So it spends its days not only being torn apart on the inside, but also necessarily tearing apart the fragile and astonishingly complex fabric of this wonderous life in relationship, all in an impossible bid to bring the past into the present.

There are times where the orgainsm finds itself in a sphere whose details seem to strike deeper than the daily war, and for a moment, the war seems to be over... the memory appears to have
"won" and life seems to have a magic about it. This is the phenomenon of pleasure. Identified with the memory of that pleasure, instantly, the "me" wants more of it, becomes dependent upon it. Sex, drugs, a pleasing vista, a waterfront view. In protecting itself, the secondary entity joins with other secondary entities to perpetuate its war on the fact, and so sets up organizations, traditions, governments, religions, "relationships", channels of conduct by which the war is made "respectable", noble, pleasurable, "spritual" even. Interpersonal pleasure becomes a commodity as I must find out the image you are nurturing in yourself to fight with consciousness, and stroke that image, giving you a hit of pleasure, control and righteousness... you become dependent upon me, so as you stroke the image in yourself, you stroke my image, and we live in a struggle to perpetuate a pleasurable delusion, perpetuating human attachment and war.

So please, if i may suggest it, don't ask "what to do?" Because if you look, who is asking? Isn't it just more of that secondary entity? Please, look and see the truth of all this. If there is a looking with a mind which sees the falsness of the secondary enity, then observation becomes an alltogether different matter. For such a mind there could be only the seeing of "what is", the fact of consciousness. Such a mind IS the fact of consciousness, and there is an understanding which has nothing to do with a secondary entity. Such understanding would be completely creative action.

The only opportunity

to understand, immediately, what it means to love. This understanding has absolutely nothing to do with conditions. It does not imply sentimentality... this does not have anything to do with an object.

Ultimately...

Ultimately, life demands and could only provide clear relations with every aspect of creation - but do you see how this demand, and the inherent possibility that there be creativity and action, cannot be translated, asserted , chosen or controlled, but only born where the mind understands it... truly - IS it ... for what could this secondary "translator", "asserter", "chooser" or "controller" be? Do you see?

Creation is the perceived. The sum total, maximum expression of creation is the perceived... so what then would be this "perceiv-er", this separate thing by which humans are all "trying to live?" You see? The "perceiv-er" is false... is an error... the perceiv-er that thinks it "can do something" about the perceived... such thought with its thinker is already a destructive skid in the brain. Because the perceived is necessarily new. Any time taker, any preference holder, any choice chooser, any belief maker is necessarily the old, and is a process of delusion which has stuck in the brain... a distortion. Please... please... take a moment and look... this isn't just more writing to consume... there is no idea here to remember... both you and the writer, in order to live truthfully, must immediately undertand and live an awareness which has nothing to do with ideas... it's absolutely important, and in a way, quite simple for us to go together in this inquiry.

This is the moment for action, for a life that is universally accurate. Life could accept nor create anything else! Understand this moment and it would be literally impossible to create disorder... in understanding there is the light of creation.

So listen...though there is a demand for action, this entity which says, "I", "I am going to act, I am going to do something," this entity will never live a life that is universally accurate and creative. That movement is the very essence of disorder. Just see the truth of this. Seeing the truth of this, you can also see that such seeing has no personal demands, and yet its demand for change is absolute. Wow... just look at it!

There is a demand for action, but it is like the demand for action in a river - there must be movement... change ... because it is all connected and things must take their place... But action occurs within every aspect of that interconnectedness, it is not a separate phenomenon... there is no separate platform from which action occurs... no "me, I'm gonna act in this churning thing based on this or that." That is conflict, struggle, separation, delusion. That is the phenomenon of the personal - a sickness born in the human mind. And don't say, "okay, I'm gonna get rid of this sickness"... that is just too absurd... you can so easily see that that is just more separation, more time.

So, just see the truth of all this... seeing, therefore, with a mind that sees the fact of its own being... that sees that the fact is actually free of any movement as "me", as "time". And if there is such looking, perhaps such seeing is total, completely creative conduct... a truthfull life... action.

can thought see its own limitation? Can it see that it will NEVER NEVER touch the burning fact of the created?

Freedom is inherent in awareness.

There is nothing [created by thought] to do, to get out of the prison of thought... you can see the absurdity.

ACTION is order...

ACTION is order. You see? Not "me, and my action." "Me and my action" is the essence of DISORDER. But understanding all of this would be ACTION. There is a movement there, a living thing. Order is not a thing that you have in mind. If think you know what order is, and therefore there is time, and a seperate controller, asserting and maintaining and struggling, then there is no order. If order is something which will occur in time, then what is happening in the meantime must be disorder... this is impossible... order will not rise out of disorder... order could only rise out of order.

In living, there will be a certain kind of eventual, a change over time that must be done, but not really... not at the level of action order and communication. For there would never be an aiming at something in the future... the future thing would come, but only as it is ceaslessly born of the right action, right now.

And SEEING is that right action isn't it? Not some gesture or ritual designed to control or change the nature of consciousness this way or that?

If we could be clear...

if we could be clear about the nature of disorder, then perhaps in that clarity, there would be immense, absolutely intelligent and creative order.

When it comes to human misery, confusion , and the conflicting, violent, destructive movements which occur of that, if you look, you will see that it all has a similar and singular origin.

At any "level", and in any situation, like a flower growing, living, a human would so grow and live: absolutely orderly, free of struggle or strife.

BUT one thing impedes such living... the tendency for imagery, for memory to surge forth AS REALITY, and as each memory is separate in each brain, there is this phenomenon of "the personal." See? .... memory, construct in the brain has somehow become more important than "what is"... you see? Memory has refused to take its place as the past, as mere ashes, and as it claims the brain as "me", there is conflict with the fact, the ceaseless demand of the present. And rather than living in the fact, the brain is caught trying to live the memory, always trying to translate the fact to serve the memory.

See this... the seeing of this is a clarity that has nothing to do with "me being clear"... it is the pristine clarity of consciousness itself, which is its own action... it's own sanity.

success is seeing what is shown...

What can one person do?

One person can see...

hear...

feel....

transmute the "what is."

However... there is conflict in the human mind...

such transmutation is not taking place.

The typical "work" of one person is born of the separate mind, and thus the separate mind is perpetuated. The separate mind IS human disorder and conflict.

Is it possible to see the nature and structure of this, and for creativity to take place? It is... just look.

how...

The yellow of the flowers
as they bloom on that bush
is how.

The wrinkles on that face
as they smile that gaptoothed grin
is how.

The ache in these shoulders
and the sting in this throat
is how.

The tension between us
the balding head
the uncertainty and the finger in the nose
is how.

The way I want to look at you
but sense your derision
is how.

The way you want me to look at you
but take up all my vision
is how.

This hatred, this aversion
is how

Your scent, this attraction
is how.

Just see and be free.

the point of life...

Seeing "what is" is the miracle of life... the point of life. So, for heaven's sake, understand immediately the nature of the mind which sees itself as "the see-er"... the "see-er" is the very denial of the seeing of what is, and a retraction into a sphere of memory - the attempt to immortalize "what was". At this point the miracle of life, the point of life goes out the window.

understanding lived ...

The fuel which fires most of the immensely grotesque expressions of human disorder might be oil, but the root of human disorder was alive and well long before we started to burn oil to "get things done." The human mind has been on an erroneous tear. Please don't be fooled into believing that our buildings, flags, and machinery are an expression of intelligence. Deep inside, we remain greedy, tortured and confused, the contradiction and superficiality of our lives is obvious, and intelligence has gone out the weapon adorned, technologically advanced, legally ratified window.

So, what is most important is the possiblity that confusion might be understood, and that that understanding therefore be lived, right here, right now, in you, the reader. Understood does not mean "figuring out" or "concluding about." Understanding implies, doesn't it, a movement of comprehension, of seeing which is necessarily free of conflict? Can we go together into such understanding? What would impede such understanding? Doesn't belief, theory, impede seeing? It does. Obviously. More important, however, is understanding the "believer" the "theorist." What is this separate stance, this "controller" in the human mind? Surely, ANYTHING it does impedes understanding? Can you see the truth of this? In such seeing, there is understanding.

And such understanding is not property. Such understanding is not to be owned and then propegated. So there is no system of understanding, no authority, and therefore no time. There is just this immense conflict, immense confusion which demands understanding. The action of understanding would be the action of life - the brilliant phenomenon of the fact of consciousness, living itself with intelligence, entirely free of conflict.

what life shows...

If you look, right here, right now, you will see and understand the entire nature of life.

What is life showing? Realize, please, the simple sanity that the past is just an idea - a memory, and the future is just an idea, constructed of memory. So what is the truth of the personal entity which says, "me, I am in the present?" This too is memory, isn't it?

Seeing the truth of this, just look. Live the majesty of complete inaction in regard to what life is showing. Notice that that which is shown, exists free of personal will... life exists whether "you like it or not"... and therefore, the exertion of that personal will is conflictual... it can only move to assert the past, what else? Could will assert the present? Of course not. That is the phenomenon of conflict and misery. So, "inaction" of that separate entity, would leave only "the shown" which I suggest is supremely and most intelligently active. Seeing the truth of this would mean the end of struggle, and perhaps the beginning of action.

Seeing this, understand the process of creation. No matter what a person has been through, or what situation they might be in, at this very moment there is a demand that they give rise to a life that is immaculately, universally in order, immaculately creative... and the possibility of this involves every scrap of attention and energy... so no one is ahead or behind, just as, in a body, all the cells must live in communion, and yet give rise to unique expressions. The origin of action is the complete end of reaction, the end of conflict, the end of personal momentum in regard to WHAT IS SHOWN.

After all, the phenomenon of THE SHOWN, at a glance, is the universal phenomenon of being, and the end of disorder requires action and intelligence immediately. This intelligence cannot be born of the past, or of an image of the future, so what's left? Only the shown... and what happens if there is no reaction whatsoever to the SHOWN? You have to feel this out and find out.

The phenomenon of THE SHOWN, free of reaction, would be order itself, would be the universal utopia that is being itself.

Human misery...

The attached mind - the mind in which the past as "me", the image, knowledge, has set itself as permanent and therefore become more important than the truth - such a mind will NEVER appreciate, understand or come upon the truth, the fact, the present. By definition, it is anchored in and dependent upon the past. The fact necessarily represents its demise. So this mind leeches energy from biology to aggressively protect and violently assert its presence in a horrifying bid to make an image stay alive... a mission which you can see is impossible. This is the downward spiral of human life and misery.

the basis of disorder....

Whether you have money or not, have a "girlfriend" or not, have "health" or not, there still remains a fact.... the fact of being itself.

And if there is to be order - true vitality - passionate creativity. there must be a mind which has nothing to do with an image of order, nothing to do with a conditional order. There would have to be a mind which is totally free of any conceptual conclusions or separative, speculative tendencies. A mind which is free to understand the fact - to live fully in the truth. So the mind which says, "there will be order when I have money, a girlfriend, or when I 'get rid of' this cough," is a deluded mind, a dependent mind. For such a person, life will be lived in an ever narrowing, ever corrupting sphere of superficiality and disorder.

You see, I realize that this next assertion is challenging for most people, but at what point does the fact of awareness, however it appears, at what point does it become "my fact" or "your fact?" You see? When does it become the thing that "I", with my likes and dislikes, can "do something about?" The sound of the plane, the stream going by, the bud casings dropping down. The pain, the hunched body. In gently questioning the tendencies of the mind anyone can see that personality, the separative movement away from the fact as "me," as "I am hearing the plane, I see the stream going by, the bud casings dropping down. I feel the pain, the hunched body" Any such movement, while it is our overwhelming tradition, is false, conflictual, and the basis of all disorder in the universe.
See the truth of this, and perhaps the truth would end that tendency.
